Tigers Pep Rally 2012

FOUR DAYS before the much awaited UAAP Season 75 Cheerdance Competition at the SM MOA Arena, Thomasians were certainly the first to witness the upcoming performance of the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe (SDT), the University's official dance troupe, during the annual Tigers Pep Rally last Sept. 18 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.

Despite the heavy rainfall that afternoon, a long queue of students and alumni with their official Pep Rally tickets can be seen outside the pavilion --- almost enough to fill the 5,792-seat capacity of the gymnasium. No outsiders and recorders of any kind were allowed in the venue to protect the SDT's routine.

Members of the Yellow Jackets, UST's official pep squad and drumline, were also in the spotlight as they rendered a live dance performance including the phenomenal Gangnam Style before the crowd.

The gymnasium reverberated with loud cheers as the Salinggawi finally showcased their new stunts and signature moves for Saturday's competition.

Quoting SDT president Danrev Dimaculangan in an article from Manila Bulletin, the SDT's routine for this year "would be less gritty and aim to please," departing from the 'fierce' theme they had in the past years.

With a promise to be TOUGHER, STRONGER, and definitely FASTER this year, will the championship crown make it home to the Growling Tigers once again???

was not able to watch yesterday.
do you think we are better than last year?

I miss the old gawi days 2002-2006 (5-peat champs)
always brought something new that other Universities tried copying.

    1. There's something lacking with their performance. On a personal note, it's not the routine that I am expecting from them. Hehe.
